SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Antiochos VIII Epiphanes (Grypos), 121/0-97/6 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 13.67 g, 12 h), Ptolemaic standard. Askalon, SE 206 = 107/6. Diademed and draped bust of Antiochos VIII to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟY Eagle, wings closed, standing left; behind, palm frond; in field to left, AΣ / IEP / AZY above dove standing left above aphlaston; to right, LςΣ; between the eagle's legs, monogram of HP. CSE 826 = Spaer, Ascalon, 31 (this coin). SC 2340.9a. Very rare and beautifully toned. Very fine.
